FAQ — Market Intelligence and Market Maps

Question 1

Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude?

Accepted Answer

A chatbot answers from the market you typed in. A Market Map persists which markets a client belongs in, who belongs in each, and what was ruled out. Keep ChatGPT for drafting. Use Trendscoded for the map and the standing.

Question 2

How does this work across multiple clients?

Accepted Answer

Each client gets their own Market Map. An agency roster is a set of maps — not one ChatGPT thread reused across accounts.

Question 3

What does founder-configured mean, and how long does a map take?

Accepted Answer

The founder configures the Market Map so the boundaries match the category. There is no published SLA. When you start — or talk to the founder — you will know the turnaround for that map.

Question 4

How are credits used after the Market Map?

Accepted Answer

Creating the Market Map draws its price from your balance. Unused credits stay for measuring and monitoring standing within those market boundaries. Nothing auto-renews.

Question 5

What is a Market Map?

Accepted Answer

A Market Map is the map of the competitive markets a company actually belongs in. It names which markets buyers would genuinely compare the company in, who belongs in each, which are worth measuring now, which are worth watching, and which nearby markets were ruled out and why.

Question 6

How can Market Maps support ChatGPT ads?

Accepted Answer

Trendscoded is Market Intelligence. A Market Map names the markets a company actually competes in; rankings and conversation-type comparisons show how it stands against rivals in each. Teams use the results for competitive intelligence, research, and ad planning.

Question 7

What is a Bounded Market?

Accepted Answer

A Bounded Market is one admitted boundary on the Market Map: the specific category, buyer context, geography, and rival set used for a single positioning read. The Market Map is the whole picture; a Bounded Market is one market inside it.

Question 8

What are Market Positioning Associations?

Accepted Answer

Market Positioning Associations are the maintained relationships credibly connected to a brand or rival. Capability Associations: what the market associates the entity with being able to do. Reputation Associations: what the market believes, trusts, or evaluates the entity for. Associations explain what supports a company’s standing.

Question 9

What is Market Standing?

Accepted Answer

Market standing describes how a company is positioned relative to rivals in a defined market. Read it with the selected model, date, buyer context, and available evidence.

Question 10

What is a Position Shift?

Accepted Answer

A Position Shift is a meaningful change in how a development strengthens or weakens a brand's position relative to rivals. It is the point where new evidence may require a communications response.

Question 11

Why define the market before measuring standing?

Accepted Answer

Standing is meaningful within a defined market and rival set. Comparing a company with the wrong rivals can lead to the wrong conclusion. Trendscoded establishes the Market Map first so every later measurement refers to a shortlist buyers would actually use.

Question 12

Can I build ChatGPT ads with Trendscoded?

Accepted Answer

You can use Market Maps, market contracts, and conversation-type comparisons to plan ChatGPT ads. Ads campaign preparation is coming soon. A Market Map purchase does not include ad delivery or media spend.

Question 13

What do I get with a Market Map?

Accepted Answer

A Market Map names the markets buyers actually compare you in, who belongs in each, which are worth measuring now, and which were ruled out and why. You also get market contracts and conversation-type comparisons within those boundaries. Fixed price, no subscription.

Question 14

Which AI models can Trendscoded read?

Accepted Answer

Trendscoded can read ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok separately. Those answers are the evidence Trendscoded uses to measure your standing.

Question 15

Is Trendscoded an AI visibility tool?

Accepted Answer

No. AI visibility tools report where a brand appears. Trendscoded establishes which competitive markets exist for the company, which ones matter, who belongs in each, and where the company stands in them.

Question 16

What happens after the Market Map?

Accepted Answer

Nothing automatic. You keep the map, and your remaining credit balance measures standing on the markets that matter and keeps monitoring them.
