Market Map

Know where you
actually compete.

Trendscoded builds a Market Map of the markets buyers compare your company in, the rivals that belong in each, and where to measure your position.

For PR, communications & marketing teams

What you bring. What you get.

Start with a company and its official website. Get a shared competitive map you can use to choose a market, compare standing, and brief a client.

  1. 01

    Start with the company

Provide the company name and official URL. Its commercial offerings give the map a starting point.

  2. 02

    Define the boards

Each board sets one competitive boundary: the purchased job, the relevant buyers, and the providers they can compare.

  3. 03

    Choose where to measure

Review the markets and rivals, then measure standing on the boards that matter to your client.

Any sector

One company. Different markets.

Define your market by geography, then by vertical for business markets or specialization for consumer markets.

One company can belong in several markets.

A company may sell several things that buyers purchase for different jobs. The Market Map separates those competitive markets. A feature or a page on the company’s website does not automatically become another market.

A board gives every comparison its context.

The board defines who belongs in the comparison and why. Relevant geography, business verticals, or consumer specializations can narrow the view. A position on one board stays attached to that board’s scope.

Keep the wider picture.

The map preserves markets worth measuring, markets worth watching, and nearby markets that were ruled out with the reason. You can explain both where a company competes and where the comparison would be misleading.

Before you start.

What is the difference between the map and a board?

The Market Map is the whole competitive picture. A board is one defined market within it. Rankings and association analysis use the boundary of the selected board.

Does creating a map measure every board?

Creating the map establishes the markets first. Measuring standing is subsequent work on the boards you select. See pricing for the Market Map offer and how the remaining credit balance is used.

Can an agency create maps for different clients?

Yes. Each client has its own Market Map, based on that client’s offerings and markets. The agency can use the same process across its roster while keeping each client’s competitive context separate.
