TL;DR

A useful market read connects a clear observation to its source. Check who the evidence concerns, when it was published, and what it supports before making a client recommendation.

A useful market read connects a clear observation to its source. Check who the evidence concerns, when it was published, and what it supports before making a client recommendation.

Begin with the original claim

Open the source behind the observation. Identify what was actually announced, reported, or demonstrated. A repeated headline is not an additional independent finding.

Check the company and context

Make sure the source concerns the company, market, and buyer need being discussed. Evidence about a different region or product may be useful background without supporting this specific comparison.

Separate evidence from interpretation

State the fact first, then explain its possible importance. A launch may establish that a capability is available. It does not by itself establish that buyers prefer it, that the company leads the market, or that a campaign caused a ranking change.

Make the client takeaway proportionate

A strong client discussion includes the source, the relevant comparison, and the limits of the conclusion. Your team uses that information to decide whether to investigate, adjust its messaging, or request a fresh measurement. The Market Map supplies context for that decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I check in a source?

The original claim, company, date, market relevance, and whether the evidence supports the conclusion being drawn.

Does a source prove why a standing changed?

Not by itself. Evidence about a development and a change in measured standing can be related without establishing causation.
